Born in Milan in 1981 and grew up in Kyoto. Naohisa studied at the Institute of International Center for Human Sciences, Kindai University, and graduated from the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. After studying at Politecnico di Milano, he joined David Chipperfield Architects. Upon returning to Japan from Italy, he established HOSOO architecture in Kyoto in 2015. His diverse portfolio of architectural projects ranges from an office building and a nursing school to a factory building. He also serves as a part-time lecturer at Kindai University and Kyoto Seika University.
